Los Angeles based singer, Elaine Hanley

This is LA based singer, Elaine Hanley, former member of the 90s band ‘Tribe’. Elaine is currently working on her debut solo album ‘Out of the box’ and wanted promotional material and album artwork, this shot is one of several chosen from a two day shoot. I can’t wait to be able to post the album artwork here so watch this space…

We shot both digital and medium format film, this was shot on the Canon 5diii with the 85mm f1.2Lii, a lovely combination.

Introspection

A series of photographs entitled Introspection featuring Rachael. This image was shot to promote the ‘Press red’ campaign, raising awareness of abuse and violence against woman.

Shootin’ Jackie

This is from my latest shoot with the very talented musician Jackie Williams. It was lovely to get the brief “I love your work, totally open to ideas” and then he sent me a link to a few of his tracks! Wow! I love shooting musicians but it makes it really special when they sound like this guy.

I shot both digital and film, this one was shot on Kodak’s beautiful classic black and white film Tri-x using the medium format Mamiya RZ67 proii with the Sekor 110mm f2.8. Developed and scanned here in the studio using Kodak Xtol developer and the Epson V850 pro scanner.

Silence

This is another from the ‘Silence’ series again with the amazing and accommodating Rachael. We were looking for that quiet state, floating, dreaming, here or maybe not.

Shot on the Canon 5diii with the 85mm f1.2Lii, a lovely combination.

Silence – Rachael

From the ‘Silence’ series. Floating, dreaming, here or maybe not I can’t help seeing similarities with Ophelia.

Shot on the Canon 5diii with the 85mm f1.2Lii.

Rodrigo Constanzo

Rodrigo Constanzo makes music and art, originally from Miami he’s now based here in sunny Manchester.

Here’s my first tentative steps shooting 10×8 film, who said bigger isn’t better? The results just blew me away, it just gives that fleshy quality that screams life. It really is a step closer to what I’m looking for in a subject.

This was shot on Ilford Delta 100 and developed in Kodak Xtol for 8mins.

Marissa

Marissa, a manchester based writer and PR consultant.

Finally back to shooting film, after shooting digital for a while it’s interesting to be confronted with the individual qualities that film and digital bring to the table. This was shot on the trusty old Hasselblad 500c/m with the Carl Zeiss Planar 80mm f2.8 using Ilford HP5 400ASA film. I love the beautiful grainy feel that HP5 gives, it adds a real human quality to the shot.

Kathryn

Fuji FP-100c – shot on the 5 x 4 – scanned with Epson V850 Pro

Kathryn 2

This was shot on the Canon 135mm f2, it’s an amazing lens. I use it for film and digital and it always produces stunning results. This was shot with the Canon 5d111 but unusually I’ve just uploaded the jpg with minor tonal adjustments using Photoshop express on the iPad so I hope it looks ok when I get back to the Mac!

Peter

Sometimes everything comes together and a little bit of magic happens. I love film but digital can be a friend too.
